The Newmarket Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Zoe Daniells as the new Manager of its new housing initiative, Stable Start.
Launched earlier this year, Stable Start supports young people entering the racing industry by matching them with welcoming host families who can provide safe and supportive accommodation as they begin their careers. The project was developed in partnership with the British Racing School and is funded primarily by the Racing Foundation, alongside additional support from Godolphin and Tattersalls.
Zoe will be based at the offices of the British Racing School and will lead the coordination and development of this two-year pilot programme. Her role includes recruiting and supporting hosts, matching them with young racing professionals, and working closely with local employers, training providers and industry stakeholders to ensure the programme’s long-term success. She joins the project with a wealth of experience and expertise supporting young people facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Andrew Braithwaite, CEO of the British Racing School, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Zoe to the team. Her role will be key in building and maintaining the trusted relationships that underpin Stable Start. With her energy and experience, I’m confident she will help ensure that young people arriving in Newmarket feel supported not only in their work, but in their day-to-day lives too.”
Tansy Challis, CEO of the Racing Foundation added: “The Racing Foundation is pleased to be supporting this initiative to help address some of the barriers faced by young people entering the horseracing industry, in particular the lack of affordable and appropriate housing. Under Zoe’s guidance they will be supported in their transition to independence thus providing a positive start to their careers. It is hoped this will ultimately impact their personal and professional growth.”
Josh Schunmann, Director of the Newmarket Charitable Foundation, added: “Stable Start is now ready to prove the difference it can make to the lives of young people entering the racing industry. The appointment of Zoe marks a significant next step in developing this programme. We are grateful to our partners and funders who have helped turn this vision into a reality.”
The Foundation continues to seek additional hosts within Newmarket and the surrounding area who are willing to support young professionals by providing short or long-term accommodation.
