Newmarket Charitable Foundation recently presented a donation to Merida, an organisation new to the town of Newmarket and is based on Fordham Road.
Merida, which opened its doors in February 2023, is a residential Specialist Mental Health Service catering to twenty-two young individuals. With the funding provided, an exciting project is now underway—a collaborative effort between the children and the Merida team.
Together, they will create a peaceful garden space at Merida, complete with picnic areas, cosy chill-out spots, small allotments where the children can grow their own vegetables and flowers, and there will be space for an outdoor gym as well. This initiative aims to foster a sense of community and belonging within the Merida site, allowing the kids to feel truly at home.
Expressing her gratitude, Samantha Kingston, General Manager at Merida, said: “It is amazing to receive support from local charities as we know there are so many worthy causes, this donation will help to facilitate some amazing projects for the young people at the Merida site.”
With the Newmarket Charitable Foundation’s kind assistance and the enthusiasm of the Merida community, a brighter future awaits these remarkable young individuals.
