Summer Nights Walk
Saturday 15th June

Summer Nights Walk 2024 is an enjoyable 10km walk which loops around Newmarket, taking you past historical landmarks and the famous training grounds that are synonymous with the town.

For past walkers, there will be a new route for 2024 for you to enjoy the beautiful landscape that Newmarket has to offer.

Early bird registration fee of £15 per person - limited places available.

The walk will start at The Severals setting off at 7pm with registration open from 5.30pm and warm up session at 6.45pm.

This year we are also supporting the ‘Just George’ Charity and if you would like to raise funds separately to your Summer Walk entry fee (the proceeds from entry fees will go to the Newmarket Charitable Foundation).

Terms and Conditions

All entries once booked online will be non refundable.

– Event site open from 5.30pm

– Registration from 5.30pm

– Briefing: 6.40pm

– Warm up session: 6.45pm

– Walk start time: 7pm

Pre Planning for your walk

10km walk takes between 90mins to 2 hours

What to bring

– Wear supportive comfy walking shoes – appropriate for long distances, that you’ve already trained in.

– Get friends and family involved download our poster here Summer Nights Walk to place in your workplace, you might even get your company to sponsor your team.

– Accessories – feel free to be daring, you and your friends can dress up getting into the spirit of the event, face painting and anything glow in the dark will be encouraged.

– Keep Hydrated – We will provide you with a bottle of water and a snack for your walk, we would also advise you to bring additional water with you.

– Money – There will be a small amount of merchandise and refreshments available on the night.

• Please be aware that there are no on-site storage facilities.

Car parking

Parking will be available in the Newmarket car parks and charges will apply as per the normal terms/timings of each car park. There is no parking on The Severals.

First Aid

We will have first aiders available if any walkers need medical assistance.

What to wear

We would advise that all participants should wear breathable/waterproof clothing – layers are best as it can get chilly overnight. Please note that there no changing rooms or storage facilities on site. Make sure you wear comfortable footwear. Whilst some colourful merchandise will be available to purchase on the evening, please feel free to dress up in bright colours/ neon face paint to be noticed in the crowds.

What about my personal belongings?

There are no storage facilities on site, so please only bring essential items that you can carry with you. The organisers cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to personal belongings.

Registration opens from 5.30pm, please go straight to registration before the warm up session.

The route will be on public roads and footpaths. It is the walker’s responsibility to follow the Highway Code at all times, and to conduct themselves in a safe manner and in respectful manner. A map will be available on the night to download onto your phones. Marshalls will be situated on route should you need any assistance.

Participants are responsible for their own medical condition and ensuring they are fit to complete the walk. Please consult your doctor if you suffer from heart, joint, back or breathing problems or any other medical condition that may affect your ability to take part.

Dogs are accepted to accompany walker’s during the event but must be kept on leads at all times, it is the walker’s responsibility to clean up after their dog at any point during the route.

 All children up to 16 years old are allowed to take part if accompanied by an adult. 

We must be able to keep you informed of important updates and information regarding this year’s event, we will use your email address and postal details to contact you. Please provide accurate details when registering.

At the event, photographers and videographers will be capturing images for use in publicity. If you are uncomfortable with your image being used in future publicity, please notify us at [email protected].

We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave the event at any time if you fail to meet our terms and conditions.
