More than 700 students at Newmarket Academy had the opportunity to explore a wide range of local and regional career paths at this year’s Careers Fair, organised in partnership with the Newmarket Charitable Foundation (NCF).
The event welcomed 17 local employers and organisations from sectors including technology, finance, equine, science, health and childcare, hospitality, further education, sport and public service. Throughout the day, students met employers, asked questions, and gained insight into the variety of opportunities available both locally and beyond.
Nathan Marshall, Deputy Head, Newmarket Academy, said: “We extend our sincere thanks to the Newmarket Charitable Foundation for organising and supporting this fantastic event. We’re also incredibly grateful to the employers who generously gave their time to share insights into their industries and promote exciting career opportunities. The event was a great success and played a key role in supporting our careers programme at Newmarket Academy.”

Local employers also reflected on the value of engaging directly with students. The Heath Court Hotel shared: “From these events, we see an increase of interest in part-time work which we can offer to 16-year-olds. All our team members notice how much they benefit from joining us. Their skills across the board improve, and we gain a valued, confident, knowledgeable colleagues who invariably continue with us through their college or university years and beyond.”

Josh Schunmann, CEO of the Newmarket Charitable Foundation, added: “We’re delighted to work with Newmarket Academy to help connect young people with the many brilliant businesses that call our town home. Events like this not only help students see what’s possible but also build lasting links between local employers and the future workforce. It’s a great example of the community coming together to invest in young people’s futures.”
The Careers Fair forms part of NCF’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth opportunity and development in Newmarket. Through its range of initiatives – including the Youth Hub at The Severals Pavilion and the Stable Start programme for young people entering the racing industry – the Foundation continues to champion pathways to learning, employment and wellbeing for young people across the town.
